Despite the title, Deuce was the kind of kid that everyone loved. He was sweet and full of mischief. Every day was full of adventure as long as he had his boots and trusty Fischer Price belt.
In this video, Deuce is waiting for sister Mary to finish a project at our Seward Elementary school. Mary wrote a poem in Jr. High describing her brother as the "Red-Headed Monster"
Approximate Date: Spring 1978?
Besides being active in sports like Cross Country, Golf, and Football, Deuce was an accomplished musician. He played the piano and excelled at the trombone. This is an early video playing his horn as an 8th grader in the Seward Junior High Jazz band. ,
Deuce had a pretty normal and happy adolescence. He loved our dogs, had a high school girlfriend, played sports, he worked summers in the fields to buy his own car, and always loved "bugging" anyone who would take it.
This is the best video to hear what his voice sounds like as we haven't heard it since that fateful day in 1993.
This video is a snapshot of his life as he prepares to graduate from high school in May of 1993. The assault that resulted in his traumatic brain injury, happened only 3 months after this video was shot.
The exciting day that I know made Mom proud. This is the house designed and built by our Dad. Great house in which to spend our first 18 years. Lots of great memories were made here. Ask me how Dad cut down a Christmas tree with a chainsaw (inside the house once.)

When you grow up in a small Nebraska town in the 80s, your car is your identity. Deuce spent many a summer working in the fields detasseling corn so he could buy his own car. He was not interested in getting Klyde, Mary's hand-me-down 1977 Chevy Caprice Classic.
Deuce's best friend Cory now owns this car and is bringing it back to life with the help of his son.
